There was once a nice king in Scotland. His real name was Robert Bruce. He loved his country and the people who lived under him very much. People who worked for him liked and respected him a lot. When they attacked his country, his enemies forced him to leave his throne. He looked for safety in a cave that was far away. The king was always thinking about how bad things were for him. As a king, he was used to having royal comforts in his home. At the place he was living now, there was no way he could ever live such a luxurious life.

However, that didn’t really make him feel bad. His worst fears were about having to leave the country he loved and seeing his people suffer at the hands of his enemies. In reality, he was mentally ill because he cared so much about his country and its people. He was so down after losing over and over that he had given up on ever taking back his kingdom. He was in such a good mood when he was lying in the cave.

King Robert Bruce of Scotland was a good person. He loved his people and his country very much. People who worked for him also loved and admired him. At one point, his enemies drove him out of his realm after a fight. The king or queen went into the jungle and hid in an old fort with his band of loyal soldiers and people who worked for him.

The king didn’t just hang out there. He put together a group of soldiers and attacked his enemies over and over again. About seventeen attempts were made against his enemies. They always beat him, though. He quit fighting because he had lost so many times. One day, the king was lying in the fort and was very sad. All of a sudden, a spider caught his eye. It was trying to climb up on top of the building. But it fell over. In spite of this, it kept trying, and on the eighteenth try, it worked.

The spider taught the king that the best way to get things done is to keep at them. After making up his mind, he attacked his enemies. Once more. This time, he beat his enemies and took back the kingdom that they had taken.
